Quick Update

All is well here at the house I guess. I took Mia to the doctor today due to a fever for a few days, plus she had aches and pains. Well it looks like she has the flu. I am so happy I paid to get her the flu shot. No meds needed just lots of fluid and rest. Anyways, while there I asked about Owen. He has had some trouble eating and the times he is eating. So they did a weight check and he is up to 7 lbs. 1 oz. He has gained 3 oz. in 2 3 days when is what the doctor wants. To top it all off Derek will be leaving to go out of town on Wednesday and not returning to Saturday night. It is going to be a long week.

Quick Update

Fiinally!!!!!!!!

Owen and I went back to the doctor today. He is finally at birth weight. He weighs 6 lbs. 14 oz. so he gained 2 oz. in 3 days. The doctor wants to see him again when he is a month old for another weight check. She likes to see a weight gain of 1 oz. a day. So until then we can keep doing what we are doing. Other then that he is doing great. He is so sweet and Mia is doing a great job helping out. I will blog again in few days with some new pictures.

Doctors Visit today

We took Owen to the doctor today. He weighs 6 lbs. 12 oz. still not up to birth weigh yet. But on the plus side he has gained 4 oz. in a week. I am taking him back on Saturday morning to have his weight checked again. So lets all pray that he makes it up there so I don't have to supplement for him. Only 2 oz. to go. He is still a little yellow so the doctor had a bilirubin checked. The doctor never called so I am guessing that it is okay. The most he will have to do is a special blanket. On the plus side Owen didn't even cry when they stuck him, but I did. In the mean time I will put him in front of the window when it is sunny. Other then that Owen is doing great. I can't believe that he is almost 2 weeks already. Mia is doing great at being a big sister. She always wants to know where Owen is and how he is doing. She kisses him a lot and tells him "I love you little guy". It is so sweet. I better run Owen is due to eat any time now.

Couldn't Be Happier

So everything is going about as well to be expected. Owen has his days and night mix up so I am running on lack of sleep, but every second is well worth it. We went to the doctor yesterday and he has not lost any more weight. He weighs 6 lbs. 8 oz. same as when he left the hospital. We have to go back next week to do a weight check. He has a little yellow tint to him but the doctor is not worried. Here is couple of pictures from both the hospital and after we got home. Mia could not be a prouder big sister. Can't wait for everyone to meet him.

We're Home

We got home at around 12:30 pm today. We really took it easy. Everybody napped most of the afternoon. Which I guess means Owen will be up all night. When we left the hospital Owen weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz. so he really didn't lose that much weight. He just seems a lot smaller then he really is. He swims in all the newborn clothes that he has. But for the most part everything is going great. Thanks to all of our visitors.

He's Here!!!!!

Owen William Goewert arrived 1/4 at 11:13pm. He weighed 6lbs and 14 oz. Bigger than both Danielle and I guessed. So without further ado....

It's Baby Time!

Danielle has now completely dilated. She did three practice pushes and she was deemed ready to go. As soon as the doctor gets here, we'll be having a baby. Next post will have some photos. It may be a bit before I can get to it though.

Update #3

The doctor was just in again and Danielle is almost fully dilated now. They checked her no more than 15 minutes ago and she was at 6cm. That sure was quick. So now we're just waiting for that last little bit and it will be baby time. More as soon as she's ready to push.

The doctor was just in to check Danielle and she still hadn't progressed any further. He says he'll probably give her another 1-2 hours to progress or else it's C-section time. I hope things get going. I don't really want to see my wife's insides. More in an hour or two.

Update #1

Danielle got her epidural about an hour ago now. So she's resting much more comfortably. She's dilated to almost 5cm. Not much more to say right now. I'll update again in a couple hours.

He's on his way....

Danielle's water broke this morning around 5am. It was more like a slow leak, so we weren't really sure what was going on at first. She went to the doctor around Noon and he sent her to Labor and Delivery. She's not progressing too well at this point, but she's having really good contractions, so it's only a matter of time. Anyway, we're at the hospital and Mia is at my parents'. We'll keep everyone updated as things change. But Owen should be here sometime today!

I just got back from the doctor. He wants to go ahead and induce on Jan. 8. It will be in the evening so the baby will be born sometime on Wed. Now, I can go into labor anytime before that but this way there is an end in sight. This also gives me a little time to prepare for him, I guess 9 months is just not enough. We will have updates on the blog as things develop during labor. We will also have pictures on there as soon as Derek gets a chance to them up. Talk to everyone later.
